Elysium Gardens in May

More and more the Okanagan is becoming a highly sought after destination location for Weddings. Our couple on May 11th, Simone and Francis came from Edmonton for their Wedding but after a few days in Kelowna they decided they are moving here in the Fall! Their beautiful Spring Wedding was at Elysium Gardens and it was a stunning backdrop for their intimate affair. After the ceremony we took the Wedding Party and the happy couple downtown for some urban shots. Our favorite was the beautiful Number 2 Firestation on Water Street and not only was it a backdrop, but we were also invited into the station by the fireman to use the fire trucks as well. Thanks guys!

Ryan & Lena

I met Lena a number of years ago through her sister who is a friend of mine. I was excited when I found out she was getting married and her sister asked if I could shoot their Wedding. This is a destination Wedding for them as Lena and her fiance Ryan live in Vancouver so their Engagement Session was on the May long weekend when they were up visiting family. Vernon was awfully quiet on this particular Sunday morning and we had a blast using old doorways, railway tracks and even an old car "graveyard".

Puppy Love

There aren't many things more difficult than photographing children and dogs but when all the elements come together....you get a great shot.

Gord and Jane are getting married this summer up at Summerhill Winery and their two beautiful labs will be a part of it all-they are the ring bearers! Naturally we had to also get them in the Engagement Session and they didn't disappoint us on the cuteness factor.

Nik n' Paula

I love hearing how couples met. Nik and Paula have a fantastic story and it led to Nik proposing to Paula at Slane Castle in Ireland! His eyes light up every time he talks about her and it is a beautiful testament to their love. Both are from Calgary originally but relocated to Vernon a few years ago. In a few short years, Paula has made such a positive impact in the community that she was recently nominated for Vernon Woman of the Year.
Our Engagement Session started at Spallumcheen Golf Course where they graciously let us on the links and then took us all over Armstrong and Vernon for more fun shots. I am honored I will be photographing their Wedding in August.

Studying with Joe Buissink

At the beginning of June I had the privilege of studying with one of the top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World; Joe Buissink. For those of you not familiar with his work-you must check it out. He's phenomenal and has been an inspiration of mine for years. To study with him was an honor to say the least.

13 photographers from around North America flew in to Kelowna to this 3 day course, hosted by another world renowned photographer; Gary Fong at his stunning Twin Creek Ranch. Joe was an incredible instructor and shared his passion for photography with us all. We as photographers also had a number of opportunities to shoot and then be critiqued by Joe and the group afterwards. Gary's ranch was the beautiful backdrop for the three photos I submitted for critique.

Christina and Andre say "I Do"

I love "love" and when you meet a couple like Andre and Christina, it lifts your spirits. We wandered downtown by the Okanagan Grand in Kelowna where Andre proposed this past Winter and found some great back alleys. They are getting married tomorrow and I can't wait! They have the cutest kiss and they don't mind practicing :)
