Engagement Session at Kalamalka Lake

I had the privilege of photographing Kelsey and Eric on the perfect winter day for an Engagement Session. It wasn't too cold, it was a little overcast (making for perfect lighting conditions) and we had our first snow fall. Kelsey and Eric were naturals in front of the camera and I LOVED her accent of a blue scarf :)

Down from the North Pole

I photographed Jenn & Damon twice the week of their Wedding. Normally I don't do a couples Engagement Session and Wedding in the same week but for those of you who didn't see their Engagement Session post, they live up in the Arctic Circle. They were only in the Okangan for a short while...then they were back off to the North Pole. I sent them their album today and I hope Santa delivers it before he starts his rounds :)

They are such a fun, loving couple; I look forward to seeing them when they are back visiting. As my Associate Photographer for the day, I had the ΓΌber talented Brian Reilly to work with, and we loved experimenting with the new video light I had just purchased.

I decided tonight to post all 30 pages from Jenn & Damon's Wedding. They had a full day of coverage and the album really shows how the whole story unfolded. To see each page in a fuller version; please just double click on the image ;)

"We have wedding pictures all over our house, in our digital photo-frame, on our computer and we’ll have some printed on our next trip out of the north!!! I can not even begin to tell you how much we LOVE LOVE LOVE our pictures. There is not a single picture that we say “why the heck did they take that picture”, we love them all - all one thousand plus.

You and Brian make an excellent team and were so much fun to spend the day with. Both of you handle yourselves very well and seem to go with the flow naturally. All of your pictures blend together nicely and look amazing!

I have to thank you also for making everything so incredibly easy for me in the planning stage of things. When I contacted you, I was going solely off of what I’d found on the internet. I can’t say for a second I had second thoughts in choosing you as our photo-grapher. From the first time we spoke on the phone I knew that you’d be perfect and we’d get along just fine! I got off the phone with you and I kept telling Damon, she’s perfect!

Although the photography was the most expensive part of our wedding, it was worth every cent. Pictures say a thousand words and with all the pictures we have, really it’s all priceless.

Thank you very much for everything and thank you to Brian also. We enjoyed working with both of you. And when we have little babies you can bet that we’ll be calling you to take some more pictures :)

Jenn & Damon

P.S. Not many photographers would climb barbed wire fences, tearing a hole in their new jeans to get a great Engagement picture for their clients and I’m sure few would roll up their pants and get into a lake to take pictures like you did. That will always be remembered! All of those pictures turned out great and worth while!"

Kathryn & Kevin

Kate and I LOVE shooting a Wedding that has a unique twist or something completely different than we would normally shoot. Kathryn and Kevin; as all Brides and Grooms do, looked fabulous...it was the backdrop that we got to photograph them against that got us super excited that morning. Kathryn's family are dairy farmers and although we knew we wanted to get some cows in the background...little did we know how friendly they would be!

Half the time I was laughing so hard (usually as one of the cows was gently licking me or my camera bag) I could barely take the shot :)

It couldn't have been a more beautiful fall day at Springbend Farms!

Wedding at Cedar Creek Estate Winery

Right from my first meeting with Teri and Drue I was super excited about the vision they had for their big day. Being from Edmonton they chose the Okanagan as a destination that all their friends and family could also enjoy. Who could blame them for wanting to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery! They also wanted to keep it very simple and not have a Wedding party or even any shoes at one point :) That allowed Kate and her great associate photographer Jenn, to have extended time with just the Bride and Groom. Kate chose some great locations-Manteo Resort & Cedar Creek Estate Winery and the Wedding itself was at the beautiful and coveted Guisachan House. Teri and Drue are completely in love, and totally at ease in front of the camera. It shows in the breathtaking images Kate & Jenn captured.

Engagement Session at Polson Park

It was a strange fall for shooting Engagement Sessions. It got cold too soon and so rather turn vibrant and beautiful, the leaves just seemed to drop....they had had enough; poor things. As Erin and Justin are getting married in the heat of the summer at the Penticton Lakeside Resort we wanted to compliment the Wedding images with a different season and look. Thankfully there were still a few bastions of color and leaves left and we used Vernon's Polson Park. I had never used this location for an Engagement Session, and we meandered along it's beautiful trails. Even better we found this amazing display of graffiti and train tracks which surprisingly I didn't know about! I am crazy about good graffiti and it made my day! :)

Andrea

I met Andrea and her mom a while back at an event in the Bay Kelowna. It took us a LONG time to organize a day where both our schedules would jive (Andrea is one busy high schooler) but persistence paid off. We even got her siblings in for a few shots!

Caught by SNAP

The Fall Bridal Fair was once again upon us in November and this year, we were caught having fun by SNAP Okanagan Magazine. Brian, one of my incredible associate photographers who has been published by Lonely Planet was there for the pic. and we are super excited that SNAP picked as one of their favorite things! Thanks Guys!!! Check out what they had to say and see the pictures from the great event.

The Bridal & Grad Expo.

The largest Bridal Fair in the valley is the perfect way to gather ideas for your wedding day. Vendors of all types filled the Rotary Centre's many rooms while the main event, a Bridal Fashion Show, took place in the Mary Irwin Theatre. Things we liked? Well, there was the instant lip plumping which looked fun (SNAP Photographer Bob refused to have a go though), some delicious cup cakes from Cupcasions, great photography from Wedded Bliss Photography and some awesome floral displays and bouquets from a new company to hit town, Classic Creations, two friendly local girls that will guide you through the myriad of flower choices with a skilled and and creative touch.

Introducing Jess & Jackie

Getting the chance to photograph my clients in a new and exciting area is so much fun. When Jess and Jackie asked if I could photograph them in their hometown I jumped at the chance. We had perfect fall weather which is sometimes difficult for Vancouver and for November 1st it was spectacular!

I wanted to use the historic and vibrant community of Chinatown as a backdrop and I made sure to get there early to scope out some fun locations. Of course along the way I had to get my morning breakfast at one of the Chinese bakeries :)

Jess and Jackie are getting married this coming summer at the historic O'Keefe Ranch and I look forward to photographing this adorable couple again.

Introducing Kevin & Lea

Over the Halloween Weekend I had the honor and priviledge of photographing two of our summers' 2010 couples in Vancouver. Kevin and Lea are from Calgary but were visiting for the weekend so we jumped at the chance to take in the sights. Gastown provided the perfect backdrop for this lovely couple. Kevin and Lea are so in love and if you can't tell from the pictures they are expecting a little bundle this March. I can't wait to meet the newest addition to their family at their Wedding in September! I have to say...Lea is one hot mama :)
